Three common misconceptions about truck maintenance, were you tricked?

2020-12-18
As the saying goes: "After riding a horse, first let the horse rest". This old saying means that not only people need to rest, but also horses. We as truck drivers need to rest, but as our "horse" --our trucks, also need to "rest" .

The [rest" here is not [parking", but maintenance. When it comes to maintenance, everyone should know something, but if the maintenance method is wrong, it may lead to expected results. Today,Mr Dongfeng will tell you a few common mistakes in truck maintenance for everyone to discuss.

Too much engine oil (making your beloved truck too full)
Every driver knows the importance of engine oil.The engine parts will be damaged if there is no engine oil, all drivers know that they should add engine oil when it`s almost finished, but too much engine oil will damage the vehicle. Do you know?

WHY? Common practice: too much oil, the crankshaft of the engine and the big end of the connecting rod will produce vigorous agitation, resulting in a loss of engine power. The serious thing is that if a large amount of oil splashes on the cylinder wall, there will be a phenomenon of burning oil. Therefore, it`s not the more the better. We should control the upper and lower engraving lines of the oil dipstick.

Three common misconceptions about truck maintenance

The bolt is too tight (bundled)
There are a lot of screws on each truck. Many people think that the tighter the screw, the safer it will be. In fact, over-tightening will only increase the safety hazard, because over-tightening will cause the screw to deform and increase the risk of having a slipped screw.

Three common misconceptions about truck maintenance

Tire pressure is too high (suffocated)
Everyone knows that it`s not good when the tire pressure of a Car tire is too low. Therefore, some people think that the air pressure of the tire should be high. Especially during maintenance, they will tell the staff to "charge me more."

In fact, if the tire pressure is too high, the adhesion coefficient of the tire will be reduced, the braking effect during braking process will be reduced, and the amount of side slip will be increased, which will cause greater safety hazards to driving. What`s more ,if the tire pressure is too high ,it will reduce the tire contact surface, increase the risk of getting worn out, then easy to puncture (imagine if the tire punctured at high speed what is the consequence?).

The correct way is to inflate according to the standard air pressure marked on the tire.
